Post.Trust - Authentication
In todays world where eCommerce is increasingly being conducted over untrusted networks, the appropriate and secure authentication of individuals and devices has become an integral part of the plumbing required to support the many online services which are becoming available. This trend is likely to continue in the years ahead with the expected rapid deployment of Web Services.

The traditional model of simple username / password is not appropriate for many types of online business and indeed can have a negative impact on customer experience in respect of forgetting a username or password, and on the business in the overhead required to deal with password maintenance issues.

Post.Trust combines unique technology from Arcot Systems (www.arcot.com) with its capability as a Certificate Authority and data security specialist to provide a convenience and highly secure method of authenticating users and establishing accountability.

The technology relies on a simple familiar PIN which is used to access a software smartcard which stored in a browser session, local disk or CD.

Post.Tust offers a fully developed registration and identity verification system using An Post's network of 100 Post Offices spread throughout Ireland in addition to a centrally run 'Registration Authority' capability.
